Danielle Tonyan Named MAC East Offensive Player Of The Week

Bowling Green, Ohio – Bowling Green State University sophomore right side Danielle Tonyan was named Mid-American Conference East Division Offensive Player of the Week for the second time this year. Tonyan led the Falcons with 25 kills and hit .354 in two matches this weekend.
Although Bowling Green lost for the first time this year, Tonyan had a team-high 13 kills against Ohio. She followed that up with 12 kills as the Falcons bounced back with a three-set sweep of Kent State the next day to improve to 13-1 on the year. For the week, she had 25 kills on 48 swings, hit .354, and averaged 4.33 points per set.
Tonyan was also named MAC East Offensive Player of the Week on Aug. 29 following the first week of the year. It is the fourth time in five weeks that a Bowling Green player has been honored by the league as both Kari Galen and Paige Penrod have also received MAC Player of the Week awards.
Bowling Green is 13-1 overall and 1-1 in conference play. The Falcons will have a mid-week non-conference match at Wright State Tuesday before returning home to host Akron Friday night at 7 p.m. and Buffalo Saturday at 3 p.m.
