QUICK HITS
• The Falcons are coming off a 77-72 overtime win at Central Michigan on Saturday afternoon (Jan. 28) ... senior Jessica Slagle led the Falcons in scoring for the second consecutive game, with 19 points ... Slagle hit a layup late in regulation to give BG a short-lived lead, then scored on the opening possession of OT to give the Brown and Orange the lead for good ... she also assisted on redshirt junior Danielle Havel's three-pointer that put the Falcons ahead by five in the overtime.
• Slagle had quite a successful week ... in addition to the 19 points at CMU, she also had five assists ... that came after her career-high 22-point effort in Wednesday night's (Jan. 25) 63-52 win at Ball State on Wednesday night (Jan. 25) ... she also set a career standard with five steals, and added four assists in the victory at BSU.
• Slagle's career scoring high entering the BSU game was 18 points (at Buffalo on Jan. 15), but she topped that total in each of last week's two wins ... Slagle averaged 20.5 points, 4.5 assists and 3.0 steals per game last week, leading the Falcons in all three categories ... she also had 3.5 rebounds per contest ... she made a career-high eight field goals at Ball State, then matched that total with eight more buckets at CMU ... Slagle shot a team-best 57.1 percent from the floor in those two wins.
• For her efforts, Slagle was named the MAC Player of the Week on Monday (Jan. 30) ... it marks the third consecutive week, the fourth time in the last five weeks and the fifth time this season that a BGSU player garnered MAC P-O-W honors.
• BG, after beginning the season with a pair of losses, has won 18 of the last 19 games ... the Falcons reeled off a seven-game win streak, suffered a two-point loss at Creighton (Dec. 18), and have won 11 consecutive contests since that setback.
• The Falcons' current win streak is BGSU's seventh of 10 games or more since the beginning of the 2005-06 season ... the other MAC teams have combined for three such streaks in during that time ... Ball State had two of those double-digit win streaks ... Miami had the third, with a 10-game streak that was snapped by the Falcons on Jan. 19.
• Overall, the current streak is the Falcons' 11th double-digit win streak in school history ... the complete list can be found in the PDF version of these notes..
• BGSU finished the month of January with a perfect 8-0 record ... it is the third time in the last two years, and the eighth time since the beginning of the 2007-08 season, that the Falcons have gone undefeated over an entire month.
• Havel, who had a well-rounded game for the Falcons in Muncie, continued to fill the stat sheet in Mount Pleasant ... she had her first career double-double vs. the Chippewas, with 10 points and a career-high 12 rebounds ... Havel played 39 minutes after being on the floor for all 40 minutes (a career high) at Ball State.
• On the week, Havel averaged 9.5 points, 10.5 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 2.5 steals ... she made two three-point field goals at Ball State, for the first time in her career, then matched that total with a pair of triples at CMU, including one in the first minute of overtime that put the Falcons ahead by five points.
• Saturday's CMU game marked the first time this season, and only the third time in 54 games since the start of the 2010-11 campaign, that the Falcons allowed the opponent to score more than 70 points ... BGSU has yet to allow as many as 70 points in a regulation game this season ... last season, the Falcons allowed 72 points vs. Akron at home and to CMU in the MAC Tournament, but BG won both games.
• BGSU is now 12-0 this season when scoring at least 70 points ... the Falcons are 31-0 since the start of last season when reaching the 70-point mark, and BG is 76-1 when scoring 70 over the last three-plus years.
• The CMU contest was BG's first overtime game in nearly three years ... the Falcons had last gone to overtime on Feb. 25, 2009, pulling out an 89-82 win at Buffalo (as Tracy Pontius hit five three-point field goals in the OT period alone).
• The Falcons have won six consecutive MAC regular-season contests that have gone to overtime ... BGSU's last overtime loss in conference play came on Feb. 18, 2004, a 102-97 loss to Northern Illinois in quadruple OT at Anderson Arena ... overall, the Falcons' last overtime setback came against Ohio, in double-OT in the semifinal round of the 2008 MAC Tournament.
• Havel's double-double at CMU was the seventh by a BGSU player this year, topping the total (six) for all of last season ... BG has not had more than seven double-doubles in a season since 2007-08, when the Falcons had a total of eight.
• The 2011-12 campaign marks the third season in a row that the Falcons have had two win streaks of at least seven games ... last season, BG had a 15-game win streak as well as an 11-game streak ... two years ago, the Falcons had a pair of eight-game streaks ...
