Swimming Back in Action with Orange versus Brown Meet

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - The Bowling Green State University swim team is back in action Friday (Oct. 5) with the Orange versus Brown intrasquad held at 3 p.m. at Cooper Pool.
The exhibition meet will see the Falcons split into two teams racing against each other in preparation for regular season matchups.
"At this point we are trying to get a feel for where people are and how they look under a little bit more pressure," said head coach Petra Martin.
The 2012-13 Falcons boast a talented group of returners, including a senior class that is well represented in the BGSU record books. Alexis Kain, Alexa Harris, Jen Beatty and Emily Bennet are the veterans, leading a team with 12 new members.
"For the newcomers, we definitely want to see some changes in their technique, racing strategies and things we have been working on the last six weeks," Martin said. "But we also want to see team unity, internal support and good communication throughout the intrasquad meet, as the next week we will be hosting three other teams here for the Tom Stubbs Relays. We want to be ready to go physically, mentally and as a team."
The Tom Stubbs Relays (Oct. 12) will be the final preseason test for the Falcons, who are looking to improve after falling to an 0-6 record against Mid-American Conference opponents last year.
The 2013 team opens the regular season at home on Oct. 26, taking on Wayne State and Ashland in a tri-meet at Cooper Pool.
