The Bowling Green State University track and field team sits in a tie for 11th after one day of competition at the 2012 Mid-American Conference Championships, hosted by the University of Akron.
Ashley Harris had the best finish of any Falcons, finishing eighth in the weight throw with a mark of 55-07.00.
Jeanette Pettigrew qualified for the finals in the 60-meter dash, securing the second fastest time among all competitors (7.56).
Day two begins at 10 a.m. on Saturday.
