Softball Travels To Auburn For The Tiger Invitational Tournament

Falcons open the 2012 season on the road against Wright State, Auburn, Alabama State and IPFW
AUBURN, Ala. -- The Bowling Green State University softball team opens the 2012 season with a trip to Auburn, Alabama this weekend, as the Falcons will play Wright State, Auburn, Alabama State and IPFW as part of the Tiger Invitational Tournament.
Falcon Quick Hits
- The Falcons went 12-32 last season, with a record of 6-15 in MAC play
- Coach Shannon Salsburg now has an overall record of 90-130, with a record of 51-54 in MAC play with the Falcons
- Junior Paige Berger returns after leading the Falcons in batting average (.331), home runs (11) and slugging percentage (.654)
- The Falcons were picked to finish sixth in the East Division in the MAC Preseason Poll
- Monica Wright joins Bowling Green this season as an assistant, replacing Hayley Wiemer-Bradford as the primary pitching coach.
- The Falcons welcome six new players to the roster this season:

WSU, under second-year head coach Lynn Curylo, returns 10 players and seven starters, including Second Team All-Horizon League selections China Frost and
Chelsea Archer along with All-Newcomer Team honoree Kacie Rapshus.
Frost (Spokane, WA/Shadle Park), a senior infielder, tied for third in the league in hits with 60 and was tied for second in the same category in league games only with 30. Archer (Thornville, OH/Lakewood), a senior infielder that joined Rapshus on the All-Newcomer Team in 2011, was second on the squad with a .363 average and her .375 batting average in league games ranked her fifth in the conference. Rapshus (Rancho Cucamonga, CA/Upland) put together a strong freshman season as the designated player for the Raiders, ranking sixth in the league with 34 runs batted in, 18 of those coming in league play. She also had eight doubles and six home runs.
