Women's Golf Hosts Dolores Black Falcon Invitational This Weekend

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio -- There is one final chance for the Bowling Green State University women's golf team to gear up for the 2012 Mid-American Conference Championships, and they get to do it in their own backyard. On Saturday and Sunday (April 14-15), BGSU will host the sixth annual Dolores Black Falcon Invitational at the Stone Ridge Golf Club in Bowling Green, Ohio.

This year, BGSU's annual home tournament will feature a 12-team field that includes many teams who have competed here in previous years, as well as some newcomers to the tournament.

The full list includes: Chicago State, Cleveland State, Dayton, Detroit Mercy, Indianapolis, IPFW, Loyola (Chicago), Niagara, Northern Illinois, Oakland, Ohio and BGSU. Indianapolis, IPFW and Loyola are first-time participants. Of the other nine teams, all but Oakland competed in the 2011 tournament.

The tournament will be a 36-hole event with individual rounds taking place on both Saturday and Sunday. Play begins both days with 9:00 a.m. shotgun starts.

The Falcons' most recent tournament was last weekend at the EKU Colonel Classic. The team placed eighth overall with a 946 (321-304-321), but individual play was highlighted by freshman Shelby Wilson. Wilson took over the team lead in scoring average thanks to a 229 (79-71-79) that earned a tie for seventh place. It was Wilson's second top-ten in her last three events.

Following this weekend's tournament, BGSU will compete in a one-day match play event against Ohio University. That tournament, the Spring Challenge Cup, will be played on Monday, April 16th in Findlay, Ohio.
