Track Competes In a Pair of Meets

Ball State Results
Jesse Owens Results
The Bowling Green State University track and field team sent competitors to a pair of meets on Saturday afternoon. The majority of the squad competed in a dual meet with Ball State, while a handful of competitors traveled to Ohio State to participate in the Jesse Owens Invitational.
"This meet format really shows our lack of depth, which is no surprise,” said BGSU head coach Lou Snelling. “We do feel good about addressing that issue through a large and diverse recruiting class that numbers nearly 20 girls at this point. It will also be nice to have our redshirts back next year; Jeanette, Brooke, Abby, among many others. These type of results are the price we pay in the short term."
The BGSU highlight of the Ball State meet was Allison Wiemer, who won the 400-meters with a time of 57.10, a season-best. Wiemer joined Allorian Horne, Felicia Jefferson and Natalie Sommerville in the 4x400-meter race to win the event in a time of 3:58.89.
The Falcons in Columbus competed in wet conditions for most of the afternoon. Brooke Pleger battled the rain to register a mark of 58.99 meters in the hammer throw to finish second. Another thrower, Ashley Harris, finished 11th in the shot put with a distance of
13.56 meters.
Jeannette Pettigrew took a step forward in the 100-meters, registering a fifth-place finish with a time of 11.88.
Up next for the Orange and Brown is a trip to Oxford, Ohio to compete in the All-Ohio meet, scheduled to begin on Apr. 20-21.
