Falcons Continue MAC Play At Akron This Weekend

The Bowling Green State University baseball team will travel to Akron, Ohio for a weekend series with the Akron Zips. The Falcons enter the Mid-American Conference showdown with an overall record of 11-17, 2-4 MAC. Akron comes in with a 10-17 overall record, 3-3 in the MAC. The series will be held at Canal Park in Akron, Ohio, home of the AA Akron Aeros.

Scouting the Zips
The University of Akron Zips enter play this weekend with an overall record of just 10-17, but they currently have a one-game lead on the Falcons in Mid-American Conference action. Akron is 3-3, taking one from Northern Illinois, and two from Ball State in their first two weekends of MAC play. Akron is coached by Rick Rembielak, who is in his first season at the helm of the Zips. Offensively, Tyler Begun leads the Zips with a .386 average. He has started all 27 games that Akron has played this year. Akron's team ERA is 5.56 entering MAC play.

The Starting Lineup
- Andrew Kubuski enters the weekend riding a 15-game hitting streak. He has had multi-hit games the last five contests.

- While T.J. Losby has been the only Falcon to appear in every game, Andrew Kubuski has started the most games for the Falcons, with 27 starts.
- Freshman Jason Link currently leads the teams in wins on the season, with three. He received the win on Wednesday, going two innings in relief against Defiance.
- Nick Bruns has been an anchor in the back-end of the bullpen for the Falcons this season. He comes into the weekend with a record of 1-0, four saves, and an ERA of just 1.02.
- The Falcons defense has been better as of late, committing just four errors over the past three games. They have now committed 64 errors in 28 games.
- As a team, the Falcons have seven pick-offs on the season. After his pickoff, which turned into a 1-3-6-2-5 putout at home on Wednesday, Kevin Delapaz is tied for the team lead with two in that category. Cody Apthorpe also has two on the season.
- The Falcons will go to Akron with impressive numbers offensively and as a pitching staff. The team ERA has dipped below five, at 4.82 currently, while the team is hitting .305 on the year.
