Falcons Battle Toledo In Second Round Of MAC Tournament

Bowling Green plays Toledo Thursday at 1:30 for a chance to move forward in the MAC Tournament
AKRON, Ohio.-- The Bowling Green State University softball team will face off against Toledo Thursday afternoon, with a chance to secure its first victory of the double-elimination MAC Tournament. The Falcons lost their first game against Central Michigan Wednesday night, falling to the Chippewas 2-1.
The Falcons swept the season series against Toledo, defeating the Rockets 5-1 and 3-1 on the road. Senior Melissa West led the Falcons in hits against Toledo earlier this season, going 3-for-6 in the two-game series. Junior Paige Berger was second with two hits, while junior Hannah Fulk led the Orange and Brown with three RBI.
Freshmen Jamie Kertes and Paris Imholz each picked up a victory, with Imholz collecting a save in game two. Imholz led the Bowling Green staff with a 0.70 ERA, allowing just four hits with six strikeouts in 10.0 innings.
The Falcons are currently on a three-game winning streak against the Rockets, and hold the all-time series advantage 61-34. Toledo lost to Western Michigan 8-0 to open the MAC Tournament, after making it in as the eight seed.
The first pitch is scheduled for 1:30 p.m.
