Falcons Host Alumni in Homecoming Meet

Fans cheered as current swimmers and Falcon alumni went head-to-head in seven races, including the 500 freestyle, 50 fly, 50 breaststroke, 200 medley relay, 50 backstroke, 50 freestyle and the 200 free relay.
After the event, Falcon seniors Alexis Kain and Alexa Harris led the alumni in a thunderous Bowling Green cheer.
"It was awesome," said head swimming coach Petra Martin. "We had a great turnout and a lot of alumni swimming. It's been a lot of fun getting the alumni involved with the team. They bring a great energy and a great atmosphere and that's what we want."
Alumni in attendance included Sarah Reinink, Dean Shaw, Tom Herringer, Amanda Rom, Ray Martin, Megan Bomicino and many more.
The Falcons now shift focus to the Orange vs. Brown meet on Friday, Oct. 5 at Cooper Pool - an intrasquad to help prepare the team for the regular season.
"This was more for fun," Martin said. "Next week we're going to do some more real events, so it's going to give us a better indication of where we're at. We're definitely looking forward to the start of racing and going at it."
The Falcon swimmers begin regular season action on Friday, Oct. 26 at home against Wayne State and Ashland.
