Wideman has been involved in the scoring of six of the Falcons' eight goals this year, including five-straight BG goals during one stretch. She tied her career high with five shot attempts in the UA match last weekend, then had a career-best six shots in Friday's BSU contest.
In goal, redshirt freshman Lauren Cadel has started 14 of the 15 matches, and has a total of 109 saves, a saves percentage of .796 and a goals-against average of 2.14. True freshman Michelle Denley has seen action in a pair of games in relief, both in MAC play, and has played just under 113 minutes this fall. DiTusa, as mentioned, made her debut in the Ball State game and saved eight of the 10 shots on goal she faced.
A LOOK AT THE REDHAWKS
Miami has an overall mark of 9-6-2, and the RedHawks are 6-1-2 in the MAC heading into Sunday's match. Miami is unbeaten in the last eight games, and the MU defense has posted six-straight shutouts. The 'Hawks posted back-to-back 2-0 wins over NIU and UT last weekend, and downed Central Michigan, 1-0, on Friday. The 'Hawks are 4-3-1 both at home and on the road this fall. Kelsey Dinges leads a potent attack with 17 points, including six goals. Kayla Zakrzewski has 16 points, on five goals and a team-leading six assists, while Katy Dolesh has six goals and 14 points. Allison Norenberg has nine of the team's 10 shutouts in goal, and she also has 52 saves and a GAA of 1.07. Head coach Bobby Kramig's team went 20-3-1 overall and 10-0-1 in the MAC last fall, winning a match in the NCAA Championships. Fourteen letterwinners, including 10 starters, returned from that team.
THE SERIES
BGSU trails Miami, 11-7-1, in the all-time series between the teams, and the RedHawks are unbeaten in the last four meetings. MU won a 3-1 decision in Oxford last fall (Oct. 21, 2012). The teams have not played in BG in three years, since a 5-2 RedHawk win on the final day of the 2010 regular season (Oct. 28, 2010). Miami won the first eight series meetings, and BGSU then won seven-straight games over the RedHawks, prior to the current MU four-match unbeaten streak. BGSU is 4-4-0 in home matches, 3-6-1 in road contests and 0-1-0 in neutral-site matches vs. Miami.
UP NEXT FOR THE FALCONS
Following the Miami match, the Falcons will close the regular season by heading to mid-Michigan to face Central Michigan on Thursday, Oct. 31. That game will begin at 3:00 p.m.
