Falcons Open Season With Strong Showing At Kent State
December 06, 2013 | Women's Track and Field
Kent, Ohio – The Bowling Green indoor track and field team opened the 2013-14 season with strong performances at the Golden Flash Gala Friday night, hosted by Kent State.
Transfers Alicia Arnold and Tina Perrine made immediate impacts, posting BGSU team bests in the long jump and weight throw, respectively. Arnold placed second overall with a leap of 18-feet-5 in the long jump, a distance that was further than any Falcon jump a year ago. Perrine placed sixth in the weight throw with a distance of 56-5.25. That was less than three inches shy of the Mid-American Conference automatic qualifying mark for the MAC Championship.
Junior Krystin Reiser also had a strong showing in the pentathlon. Her score of 3,275 points in the five events beat her previous career-best of 2,857 points by more than 400. She excelled in the 60 hurdles and the 800.
Bowling Green will continue competition at the Golden Flash Gala Saturday before taking more than a month off leading into the BG Opener Jan. 11.
