BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - The Bowling Green State University baseball team will host Malone University on Wednesday afternoon in the 2013 home opener for the Falcons. The Falcons are 17-5 in home openers under head coach Danny Schmitz.

Catching Up With The Falcons
The Falcons will come into the week with a record of 3-9, having just completed a six-game spring break trip. Bowling Green is led by Patrick Lancaster on offense, as he is the only Falcon currently hitting over .300. Lancaster's .340 batting average, compliments his three extra-base hits, seven RBI, and two stolen bases. The Falcons, as a team, boast a batting average of .244. Jason Link is projected to get the start for the Falcons on Wednesday. It will be the first start of his career. The Falcons have a team ERA of 4.05.

Scouting The Pioneers
Malone boasts a 7-6 record on the young season, having just completed their spring break trip to Arizona. Offensively, Keanan Locke heads the Pioneer attack, batting .471 on the season. Malone bats .339 as a team. Jared Messer is the projected starting pitcher for MU on Wednesday. Messer comes in with a 2-0 record and an ERA of 1.29. Malone has a team ERA of 5.04 thus far in 2013.

The All-Time Series
The Falcons hold an all-time record of 2-0 over Malone, having defeated them most recently 364 days ago (March 14, 2012). In that 24-11 win for Bowling Green, the Orange and Brown pounded out a school-record 30 hits. Individually, Jake Thomas also set a school-record with six hits in that game.

Coming Up
The Falcons will travel to Normal, Ill. this weekend for a four-game set with the Redbirds of Illinois State. The games will be played at the home of the Normal CornBelters, the Corn Crib. The CornBelters are members of the Frontier League. Following this weekend's series, the Falcons will return home for a four-game homestand, hosting Dayton on Tuesday (March 19) before beginning MAC play at home vs. Western Michigan (March 22-24).
