March 14, 2013 | Softball
DAYTON, Ohio -- The Bowling Green State University softball team will play the University of Dayton on Saturday, March 16, facing off against the Flyers in a doubleheader slated to start at 1 p.m. Bowling Green is 17-2 all-time against Dayton, with their last meeting coming back in 2000. The Falcons are 8-7 this season, going 5-5 this past week in a 10-game stretch. Bowling Green had a clean split of the entire week, going 1-1 against Western Kentucky, Evansville, Southeast Missouri, East Tennessee State and Murray State.
MAC East Player Of The Week
The Mid-American Conference announced Tuesday morning that sophomore Paris Imholz has been named the MAC East Division Pitcher Of The Week. Imholz has been sensational for the Falcons, building on her MAC All-Freshman Team selection last season. Imholz appeared in nine games this past week, collecting four of the Falcons' five wins.
Imholz picked up a win for Bowling Green early in the week, pitching her second complete-game shutout of the season against ETSU. Imholz held East Tennessee State to just four hits, while also recording a season-best seven strikeouts. Imholz fell one strikeout short of her career-best, set last season against Detroit on April 11. Imholz pitched a second complete game against Southeast Missouri, allowing just one run on four hits in the victory. Imholz finished the week with a 4-1 record, striking out 23 batters in 43.0 innings of play. Imholz registered an ERA of 1.63 over nine games, while allowing just 12 walks.
More To Come
Sophomore Chloe Giordano hit her first home run of her career this past week, helping the Falcons to an 8-6 win over Western Kentucky. Giordano hit her second home run of her career later in the week, and is now tied for the team lead with Katie Yoho and Andrea Arney. Giordano led the Falcons in RBI over the 10-game stretch, earning six in that span. Freshman Maris Shook also achieved a career first on the road trip, hitting her first ever home run, going 2-for-2 in a contest against Murray State (3/10/13). Sophomore Emily McClelland also had one of the most memorable hits in her career over the week, collecting her second career hit and first career RBI in the Falcons' 4-1 win over Murray State on March 9.

The Falcons have earned eight wins this season, currently ranking second in the MAC East in overall record.
