Volleyball Names 2013 Captains

Butterfield, Avila, and Dachenhaus named captains
BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - The Bowling Green State University volleyball team has named their captains for the 2013 season, in advance of tomorrow's season opener. Lindsey Butterfield, Laura Avila, and Libby Dachenhaus have all been chosen to lead the team this season.
Butterfield, a native of Springfield, Ohio, recorded 378 kills in 2012. She was named a first team All-MAC performer. She also was voted to the 2013 Preseason All-MAC East team by the coaches in the Mid-American Conference. Avila, who hails from Yorktown, Ind., appeared in all 130 sets last season. A senior, Avila recorded 1,333 assists a season ago. A native of Toledo, Ohio, Dachenhaus is a defensive specialist. Last season, she appeared in 82 sets, helping the Falcons to the MAC Tournament crown.
The Falcons will begin the regular season on Friday (Aug. 30) when they take on Marquette in the Hampton Inn Invitational. The Falcons will also play No. 25 Creighton and No. 13 BYU as part of that tournament, taking place at the Stroh Center in Bowling Green.
