Falcons Return To Stroh For Midweek Showdown With YSU

The Bowling Green State University volleyball team will return home on Tuesday night, when they host the Youngstown State Penguins at 7:00 p.m. inside the Stroh Center. The Falcons enter the match with a 1-7 record, after facing four ranked teams within the first three weeks of the season. The Penguins come into the match with a 4-6 record overall. All season ticket holders will have the opportunity to receive a free, team-signed poster, at the match.

Last Weekend
The Falcons continued their daunting non-conference schedule last weekend, playing at the InnTowner Invitational hosted by Wisconsin. The tournament began with a three-set loss to Milwaukee on Friday afternoon. On Saturday, the Falcons lost a tough five-set match to tournament champion, Kansas. In the nightcap, the Falcons lost to the host team, Wisconsin, who was ranked No. 25 in the country.

Butterfield Bullies Competition
Lindsey Butterfield was named to the all-tournament team at the InnTowner Invitational, racking up 47 kills in just three matches. Butterfield averaged 4.27 kills/set and also contributed five blocks on the weekend.

Leaders In The MAC
*Paige Penrod currently ranks sixth in the MAC with 3.40 kills/set
*Erica Fullenkamp ranks 10th in the MAC this week with 7.32 assists/set
*Kaitlyn Skinner currently ranks tied for third in the MAC with 1.34 blocks/set
*Ashley Dunn sits sixth in the MAC averaging 4.40 digs/set

Scouting YSU
Youngstown State comes to Bowling Green with a record of 4-6 on the season. The Penguins, who are coached by former BGSU assistant coach Mark Hardaway, are coming off a 1-2 weekend in St. Louis. YSU is hitting .199 on the season. The Penguins are led by seven seniors, including outside hitter Missy Hundelt. Hundelt is the only Penguin averaging over three kills/set. The Falcons are 6-0 all-time against the Penguins coming into Tuesday night's match.

Looking Forward To #MACtion
The Mid-American Conference slate of the schedule will begin next Thursday (Sept. 26), when the Falcons travel to Oxford, Ohio for a matchup with Miami. The first home match of the MAC schedule will be on September 28, when the Falcons host Northern Illinois at 7:00 p.m. That game has been designated as "Overflow The Stroh." Fans can get a free ticket to volleyball when they present their football ticket from that day. Also, youth can get a $2 ticket by turning in a flyer distributed by BGSU Athletics.
