With the win, Ohio improves to 5-2-2 on the season, and the Bobcats are unbeaten in the last six matches. BGSU drops to 0-7-0.
"We played a really good first half of soccer today," said BGSU head coach Lindsay Basalyga. "But, we became undisciplined defensively at moments in the second half, and Ohio found a way to capitalize. We are still trying to find the right combination of players to compete for 90 minutes consistently."
The Falcons got on the board early, as Tobin scored with just 8:39 gone. After a shot by senior Madeline Wideman, the ball came to Tobin, who beat Ohio goalkeeper Mattie Liston to put the visitors on top. The goal marked the first goal allowed by the Bobcats in nearly 290 minutes of action.
The Bobcats had an 8-3 advantage in shots in the first half, but the Falcons took that 1-0 lead into the break. In fact, Tobin nearly gave the Brown and Orange a two-goal lead late in the opening period, hitting the post with a shot with 3:09 left before the intermission.
In the second half, however, the Bobcats tied the score with just over four minutes gone. Holly Harris got the home team's first goal, scoring from the middle of the 18-yard box.
With just 6:37 left in the second half, the 'Cats got what proved to be the winning goal, as Alison Cislo took a short pass from the right side and teed up a shot from the top of the box. BGSU redshirt freshman goalkeeper Lauren Cadel got a hand on the ball, but could not keep it from crossing the goal line.
Then, with exactly five minutes remaining, the hosts were awarded a penalty kick. Carly Manso, who drew the assist on each of the first two Ohio goals, converted that PK to provide the home team some insurance.
For the match, the Bobcats had 21 total shots to the Falcons' five. Cadel made seven saves in her complete-match effort for the Brown and Orange, while Liston had two stops for the home side.
BGSU remains on the road, journeying to Northeast Ohio for a Sunday (Sept. 29) match vs. Kent State University. That contest begins at 1:00 p.m. Then, the Brown and Orange will begin a season-long four-match homestand next Friday night (Oct. 4) with a match vs. Eastern Michigan University at Cochrane Field.
