BGSU travels to Cincinnati for two-day, four-team tourney
The Bowling Green State University tennis team heads to the Queen City this weekend to take part in this weekend's UC Invitational. The two-day, four-team event will be hosted by the University of Cincinnati on Friday and Saturday (Oct. 10-11).
Friday's matches will be played indoors at Western Tennis and Fitness Club. Saturday's action will take place either at the Trabert-Talbert Tennis Center on the UC campus or at Western Tennis and Fitness.

Head coach Olga Elkin's Falcons will be joined by Ball State, Xavier and the host Bearcats at the invite, which will utilize a hidden dual format.
The Falcons have been idle from intercollegiate competition since the BGSU Invitational on Sept. 19-20. Freshman Maddy Adams won a singles flight championship that weekend, and all seven BG players who competed in the home invite picked up at least one win.
"Since the BGSU Invitational, we as a team have been working on consistency, and how to be aggressive on the right shots to set you up during the point," said freshman Megan Miller. "We have been working hard at practices as well as in conditioning and lifting in order to keep our game at a high level of play."
The UC Invite will be the Falcons' third tournament of the season, and the team's second trip to Southwest Ohio this fall. BGSU opened the 2014-15 season at the Miami Invitational (Sept. 12-13) before hosting the BGSU Invite.
Freshman Meili Martin leads the youthful Falcons with six victories this season to date, while Adams has five and Miller and sophomore Hannah Drayton four apiece. Adams and Drayton each had 4-2 overall records at the BGSU Invitational, while sophomore Brittany Plaszewski went 3-2 that weekend. Multiple Falcon players won tiebreakers on the final day of action at BG's home invite.
"We gained some great experience at our previous tournaments," said freshman Emily Witt. "With a team consisting of four freshmen, it was our time to get a feel for college tennis. Playing against strong competition like Miami and Xavier earlier this season showed us what level our team needs to be performing at and also elevated our level of play. As our fall season winds down, we hope to go out this weekend on a strong note, work hard, and be the loudest team on the court."
Play is scheduled to begin at 9:00 a.m. on both Friday and Saturday.
