Erica Fullenkamp Named MAC Scholar-Athlete Of The Week
November 06, 2014 | Volleyball
Cleveland, Ohio - Bowling Green State University senior setter Erica Fullenkamp was named the Mid-American Conference's Scholar-Athlete of the Week for her performances in leading BGSU volleyball to a 2-0 weekend. It is the first time in her career that she has received the award and she is the third Falcon to be named MAC Scholar-Athlete of the Week this year, along with football's Tyler Tate and men's soccer's Pat Flynn.
Fullenkamp, who holds a 4.0 grade point average in education, led BGSU to wins over Akron and Buffalo, avenging earlier three-set losses to both teams. She led an efficient offense by averaging 10.7 assists per set and tied for the team-high with three aces on the weekend. She also posted 18 digs in two matches.
In the three set win over Akron, Fullenkamp handed out 35 assists and added four kills and two aces. She followed that up in her final match in the Stroh Center on Senior Night with a double-double effort, finishing with 51 assists and 12 digs to go with two kills, two blocks and an ace. The victories helped vault the Falcons back into contention for a MAC Tournament berth and was the squad's first back-to-back wins of the year.
BGSU Volleyball finishes the regular season with four consecutive road matches, beginning with a contest at Miami tonight at 7 pm. The Falcons will play at Northern Illinois Saturday at 8 pm in a game broadcast nationally on ESPN3.
