Lakewood Ranch, Fla. – The Bowling Green State University women's golf team will tee-off its 2014 spring season at the Women's Mid-American Match Play Challenge on Feb. 3-4 in Lakewood Ranch, Fla.
The match play event will be held at the par 72, 5,935 yards King's Dunes golf course at the Lakewood Ranch Golf & Country Club and will be hosted by the BGSU Falcons.

In the opening spring event, head coach Stephanie Young is using the lineup of Lily Bartell, Shelby Wilson, Patricia Holt, Bailey Arnold, Hannah Lewis and Mikayla Baer.
Bartell will look to continue the momentum over from her strong fall season in which she led the Falcons with a stroke average of 75.75 over 12 rounds of play. The sophomore had two-sub par rounds during the fall and recorded two second-place finishes at the Redbird Invitational and the Cleveland State Invitational.
Wilson tallied three-top 16 finishes overall, highlighted by earning medalists honors at the Cleveland State Invitational, while fellow junior Holt rounded out her fall slate with a 10th-place finish at the Rocket Classic. Wilson, who played in four tournaments last fall, recorded a stroke average of 77.30 over 10 rounds of play, while Holt finished right behind Wilson with her stroke average of 77.58 over all 12 rounds of golf during the fall season.
Arnold, who is heading into her final spring season for the Falcons, had a strong fall slate which included a low round of 68 at the Great Smokies Intercollegiate, a new BGSU 18-hole record low score. The senior posted four top-25 finishes over the fall and registered a stroke average of 77.75 over her 12 rounds of play.
Lewis and Baer, both underclassmen, round out the BGSU lineup, as Lewis posted two top-20 finishes last fall, including a ninth-place finish at the Cleveland State Invitational, while Baer posted a season-best 17th-place finish at the same event. Both Lewis and Baer played in all five tournaments for the Falcons in the fall, as Lewis recorded a stroke average of 78.00 over the 12 rounds of play, while Baer tallied an average of 80.25 over her first semester of competition.
The Falcons, who drew the No. 2 seed due to its 152 Golfstat ranking, will take on No. 6 Northern Illinois in the first round of match play on Monday morning with the winner slated to face off with the winner of Ohio and Bradley in the second round of the match play challenge on Monday afternoon.
