White Sulphur Springs, W. Va. – Bowling Green State University freshman Jose Narro is the lone golfer out of the entire tournament field under par after day one of play, as he leads the inaugural Greenbrier Collegiate Invitational at The Old White TPC Course in White Sulphur Springs, W. Va.
The tournament, which is co-hosted by both BGSU and Marshall University, had two rounds of play, a total of 36 holes, on Monday at the par 70, 6,900 yards Old White TPC Course.
Bowling Green currently sits in fourth-place overall out of the seven team field after the two rounds of play, as the Falcons posted team scores of 295 and 287 on Monday for a combined team score of 582, +22. BGSU is only three strokes behind third-place William & Mary (579, +19).
Narro leads both the Falcons and the tournament field with a two-round combined score of 137, - 3 under par, as he carded rounds of 70 and 67 on day one. The BGSU freshman is the only player under par entering the final day of play on Tuesday.
Fellow freshman Brett Rinker is also in the top-10 overall, as his rounds of 72 and 74 put him in a tie for 10th-place overall with his combined 36-hole score of 146, +6, while senior Chris Melvin bounced back from a first round 79, to shoot a second round 70, even par, to give him a combined two-round score of 149, +9, good enough to place him in a tie for 20th overall.
Juniors Joe Cooper and Ryan Triller rounded out the scoring for the Falcons, as Cooper posted rounds of 74 and 76 to give him a 36-hole score of 150, +10, while Triller turned in rounds of 81 and 77 on the day for a combined score of 158, +18. Cooper is in a tie for 23rd overall, while Triller is in 37th-place after one day of play.
Playing as individuals, both Holden Pahr and Joshua Bialecki were consistent over the first two rounds. Pahr played his way into the top-15 with back-to-back rounds of 74 to finish tied for 15th overall with a combined score of 148, +8, while Bialecki dropped three strokes from his first round 79 to his second round 76 to card a two-round score of 155, +15, and sit in a tie for 34th-place overall.
Marshall leads the event with a combined score of 568, +8, and is nine shots ahead of Old Dominion who is in second-place overall with a score of 577, +17.
Narro, who sits in first-place with a 137, -3 under par, is three strokes ahead of both Austin Morrison of William & Mary and Clark Robinson of Marshall who are tied for second-place overall with their 36-hole scores of 140, even par.

The third and final round of play is slated for an 8 a.m. shotgun start tomorrow morning, as inclement weather is in the forecast throughout the day.
