
Falcons Win Four Events At Cherry Blossom Invite

Athens, Ohio – The Bowling Green State University track and field team won four events from four different student-athletes as the Falcons competed at the Cherry Blossom Invitational Saturday, hosted by Ohio University.
Bowling Green's throws group impressed at the six-team meet as freshman Makenzie Wheat won the shot put and senior Tina Perrine took first in the discus. As well, redshirt freshman Kori Reiser placed second in the both the hammer throw and the discus. The Falcons also picked up a pair of strong results in the sprints as sophomore Alicia Arnold won the 400 and redshirt junior Brittany Sinclair was first in the 400 hurdles.
Wheat improved her shot put distance from her outdoor collegiate debut a week ago, throwing 46-feet-11 and coming up less than one foot shy of the Mid-American Conference automatic qualifying mark. Perrine also improved upon her performance from a week ago in the discus, winning the event with a throw of 151-2. She is less than two feet away from reaching the MAC automatic mark.
Reiser made it a 1-2 finish for Bowling Green in the discus with a throw of 141-6 and she was the team's top finisher in the hammer throw with a second-place finish at 177-5. Perrine was third in the hammer at 172-4.
Moving to the sprints, Arnold ran the team's best time this year in the 400 at 56.81 seconds, finishing less than a second away from the MAC automatic mark and winning the event. Sinclair had a season-best time of 1:03.13 in the 400 hurdles to take first place as well. Junior Natalie Sommerville placed third in the event at 1:04.45.
Bowling Green will return to action in six days for the two-day All-Ohio Championships, hosted by Cincinnati. The meet will take place Friday and Saturday.
