Holt Paces Falcons After Two Rounds of Play at the Redbird Invitational

Normal, Illinois – In the first tournament of the 2014 fall season for the Bowling Green State University women's golf team, senior Patricia Holt turned in a team-low day one score of 151, +7, to pace the Falcons over the first two rounds of play at the par-72, 6,086-yards course at The Weibring Golf Club in Normal, Illinois.
The Falcons carded team rounds of 314 and 312 to turn in a 36-hole combined team score of 626, +50, on Sunday. BGSU is tied for seventh-place overall with South Dakota State out of the 16 team tournament field.
"We saw a lot of positives from our first rounds of competition today, as well as some things we want to tighten up," commented head coach Stephanie Young. "Tomorrow we will look to try and get four scores in the 70s. Patricia (Holt) fought hard to post two solid rounds for her team today."
Holt finished the day in a tie for seventh-place overall, as the senior posted a first round 75, +3, and a second round 76, +4, to finish with a two-round combined score of 151, +7, to lead the Falcons. Holt had three birdies on the day.
Juniors Hannah Lewis and Lauren Diehl both had solid first rounds of play on Sunday morning and wrapped up day one of play in a tie for 47th-place overall. Lewis, who also posted three birdies on the day, recorded a first round 79, +7, and a second round 80, +8, for her combined 36-hole score of 159, +15. Diehl tallied her two-round combined score of 159, +15, with rounds of 78, +6, and 81, +9, on Sunday.
Rounding out the scoring for BGSU was senior Shelby Wilson and junior Lily Bartell, who both finished Sunday in a tie for 56th overall. Wilson bounced back from a first round 84, +12, in the morning session to shoot a second round 77, +5, on the afternoon to finish day one with a score of 161, +17. Bartell turned in rounds of 82, +10, and 79, +7, for her combined score of 161, +17.
The Falcons are only eight strokes behind fifth-place in the Ohio Bobcats (618, +42) and only 12 shots out of the top-three.
The third and final round of play is set for tomorrow, Monday morning, at 8:30 a.m.
