Auden, Flynn, Genrich, James, Landsberger, Roth and Sullivan all are named to the team
A total of seven Bowling Green State University men's soccer student-athletes have been named to the Academic All-Mid-American Conference Team, the league office has announced. Juniors Jake Genrich and Ryan James, redshirt sophomores Max Auden and Nick Landsberger and true sophs Pat Flynn, Jacob Roth and Joe Sullivan all were named to the team, which was revealed on Thursday (Jan. 8).
Auden, a native of Naperville, Ill., was named to the MAC's All-Tournament Team in 2014, and also was named an all-league first-team selection by the College Sports Madness web site. He started all 21 matches, and had 15 points on six goals and three assists. Auden was fourth on the team in points, and finished second on the Falcons in goals scored. Four of his six goals came in the month of November, including the match-winning goal in every one of BGSU's victories against MAC opponents on the season. Those GWGs came on back-to-back-to-back weekends in November, as BG downed Western Michigan, Northern Illinois and West Virginia. The latter goal was a 'Golden Goal' in the semifinal round of the MAC Tournament. He scored both of BGSU's goals vs. WMU, including the overtime winner in that 2-1.
In the classroom, Auden, an accounting major, had a 3.619 cumulative grade-point average at the time of nomination.
Flynn, who also hails from Naperville, Ill., had one of the finest seasons by a Falcon in recent memory. He started all 21 contests for coach Eric Nichols, and led the team with 14 goals and 32 points, the highest totals by a BGSU player since the 1996 season. Flynn tied the school single-game records with five goals and 11 points vs. Findlay, and six of his goals proved to be game winners. He was directly involved in the scoring of nine GWGs, as three of his four assists on the year came on the winning goal. Flynn was an Academic All-American, being named to the Capital One Academic All-America Second Team after earning all-district first-team honors, and he was named to the All-MAC Second Team and the NSCAA/Continental Tire All-Great Lakes Region and NSCAA All-Ohio first teams. Flynn was BGSU's first all-region first-team selection since the 2000 season.
Flynn, an accounting major, had a cumulative GPA of 3.812 at the time of nomination.
Genrich, a native of Plymouth, Mich., started all 21 matches at a central defender spot, and was on the pitch for every second of every match in 2014. Genrich, who played a total of 1972:39 on the year, helped the Falcons to eight shutouts on the year, as BG allowed just 20 goals in the 21 matches. A team tri-captain, he was named to the All-MAC Second Team, and also earned all-league second-team recognition from College Sports Madness.
Genrich, a supply chain management major, had a 3.610 cumulative GPA at the time of nomination.
James, who hails from Mississauga, Ontario, joined Flynn on the All-Ohio Team, earning second-team honors. He also was named to the NSCAA/Continental Tire All-Great Lakes Region Third Team, becoming one of just three Falcons to earn all-region honors in the last 14 years. James was an All-MAC Second-Team selection, and also was selected to the all-league second team by College Sports Madness. He started all 21 matches in the midfield, and had six assists on the year, tying for second on the team in that category. James had an assist on the winning goal at St. Bonaventure in late September, and picked up assists in back-to-back games vs. Northern Illinois and West Virginia. BG's win in the NIU game clinched a MAC Tournament berth, and the win over WVU in the league tourney semifinal round sent the Falcons to the championship match for the first time in 11 years.
In the classroom, James is an exercise science major, and had a cumulative GPA of 3.745 at the time of nomination.
Landsberger, a native of Arlington Heights, Ill., played in 15 matches in goal, making 13 starts. He had a 10-4-0 record, 48 saves and a goals-against average of 1.18. Landsberger's win total was the highest by a Falcon 'keeper since the 1998 season, and he did not allow a goal for the first 256:20 of the season (and of his BG career). Landsberger's three complete-match shutouts included a clean sheet on the road as the Falcons defeated Michigan. He was chosen to the all-league second team by College Sports Madness, and was named to the MAC's All-Tournament Team.
Landsberger, a visual communication technology (VCT) major, had a 3.421 cumulative GPA at the time of nomination.

Ten of those points, including four goals, came in the month of November. His first collegiate goal came in overtime in his hometown, as he gave BG a win at Cleveland State in early October. Roth scored a goal in each of BGSU's MAC Tournament matches, including a penalty kick that tied the game late in regulation of the semifinal-round win over West Virginia. He also scored the game's first goal in the league tourney championship, converting a free kick against Akron. Roth, along with Auden became the first BGSU player to score multiple overtime winners in a season in the 'Golden Goal' Era, which began in 1997.

Sullivan ranked third on the team in scoring, and was in the top 10 in the MAC in goals, assists and points. Two of his goals proved to be game winners. Sullivan scored a pair of goals, including GWG, vs. Niagara in September, and he also had a goal in the Falcons' win at Northern Illinois that clinched a berth in the MAC Tournament. He posted an assist on Auden's winner in the MAC Tournament match vs. WVU, and also assisted on what proved to be the game-winning goal in 1-0 road victories vs. both Michigan and IPFW.
Sullivan, a business administration major, had a 3.892 cumulative GPA at the time of nomination.
