Falcons Post Another Top-Four Finish at the 2015 Rocket Classic

Port Clinton, Ohio – The Bowling Green State University women's golf team recorded its third top-four finish of the 2015 fall season on Tuesday with a fourth-place team finish at the 2015 Rocket Classic with a 54-hole team score of 942, +78, held at the Catawba Island Club in Port Clinton, Ohio.
BGSU took fourth-place out of the 11-team field with rounds of 310, 321 and 311 overall.
"We were able to improve our score today by finishing strong down the stretch," head coach Stephanie Young stated. "Overall, Erin had a great top-15 finish!"
Earning her first career top-15 intercollegiate finish was freshman Erin Fahey, as the newcomer shot a BGSU low 54-hole score of 233, +17, to finish in a tie for 13th-place overall. The Texas native posted rounds of 75, 76 and 82, which included one birdie and a team-high 37 pars.
Placing in a tie for 24th-place overall with 54-hole scores of 238, +22, was both Fran Rodriguez and Mikayla Baer. Rodriguez tallied five birdies and 27 pars over her rounds of 77, 83 and 78. Baer turned in rounds of 78, 83 and 77 over the two days of play, totaling four birdies and 28 pars overall.
Rounding out the lineup for the Falcons at the Rocket Classic were seniors Hannah Lewis and Lily Bartell. The senior duo saved their best rounds for last, as Lewis registered a final round 79, +7, after posting scores of 80 twice on Monday, while Bartell shot a final score of 77, +5, following two scores of 81 and 82 on the first day of play. Lewis edged Bartell by one shot to finish in a tie for 28th-place overall with a 54-hole score of 239, +23, while Bartell placed in a tie for 30th with a three-round combined score of 240, +24.
Finishing in 34th-place overall was sophomore Miranda Dubler who played in the two-day event as an individual. Dubler carded rounds of 80, 77 and 84 to wrap up her first event of the fall season with a 54-hole score of 241, +25. She had one birdie over each round of play and totaled 27 pars for the event.
Also playing as an individual for the Falcons was freshman Julia Durkin. Durkin posted her lowest round of the three rounds of play on Tuesday with a final round 79, +7. Coupled with her first and second round scores of 81 and 87, Durkin finished 43rd overall with a 54-hole score of 247, +31.
Toledo took home the team championship with a tournament low team score of 889, +25, while Ohio finished in second-place with a score of 923, +59. Finishing in third-place was Loyola (Ill.) with a score of 941, +77, just one stroke ahead of BGSU.
The Falcons will wrap up their 2015 fall schedule this weekend, Oct. 11-12, at The Preview hosted by Eastern Michigan University at the Purgatory Golf Club in Noblesville, Ind. This site will also serve as the golf course for the 2016 MAC Women's Golf Championships in April.
