Falcons Take On Michigan State, Cincinnati In Tri-Meet Friday

Setting The Stage
The Bowling Green State University swimming and diving team will be back in the pool this weekend for a tri-meet on Friday evening against Michigan State and Cincinnati. The meet will begin at 5:00 p.m. at MSU's McCaffree Pool.

To This Point
The Falcons are on a roll with their victories over two Mid-American Conference opponents, Toledo and Ohio, to begin the 2015-16 season. The 157.5-142.5 win against Ohio was the first under Coach Matt Ense, while the victory over Toledo was their second straight dual victory to begin the season, and their third straight triumph over Toledo in a dual meet.

Coaching Connection
This Friday's tri-meet will have some meaning for two members of the Falcon coaching staff, as both head coach Matt Ense and assistant coach Jaclyn Rosen came to BGSU after stints as assistant coaches at Cincinnati. Ense spent two seasons as an assistant in his hometown, while Rosen was an assistant last season with the Bearcats.

Griffin Off To A Strong Start
Falcon junior Victoria Griffin has been having a great season and is showing no signs of slowing down. Griffin, a three-time MAC Swimmer of the Week, has had five first-place swims. In their meet against Toledo, Griffin won both the 50 and 100 free events, while also swimming the first leg in the 400 free relay team, which turned into a first-place finish. Against Ohio the weekend before, Griffin took second in the 50 free. She also helped the Falcons 400 free relay team to a second place finish.

Skorupski With A Successful Start
Maya Skorupski helped the Falcons to victory against Ohio taking first in the 100 back. In the Toledo meet, she helped the 200 medley relay team to a first-place finish. She then placed first in the 100 back with a time of 56.98.

Falcons Ranked In CollegeSwimming.com Mid-Major Poll
Entering this weekend, Bowling Green is ranked 23rd in the CollegeSwimming.com Mid-Major Top 25 Poll.

Wohlert Reaching Wall First
For the second straight meet Franziska Wohlert has won two events. She placed first in both the 200 free and the 200 back. Against Ohio, she solidified two victories in the 200 backstroke and 200 Individual Medley. Wohlert also finished second in the 100 back, in addition to a second-place finish with the 400 free relay team.
