BGSU duo named to second team
A pair of Bowling Green State University men's soccer standouts have been named to the 2015 All-Mid-American Conference Team. Senior Ryan James and junior Pat Flynn each were named to the second team.
The All-MAC Team, along with the specialty award winners, was announced on Thursday afternoon (Nov. 12) by the conference office.
Both players earn all-conference honors for the second-straight season, as Flynn and James each were named to the All-MAC Second Team a year ago.
Flynn, a native of Naperville, Ill. (Central), led the Falcons in scoring for the second-straight season, despite missing the last four matches of 2015 due to injury. Flynn had team-high totals of nine goals and 22 points, adding four assists. He had three multiple-goal games for the second consecutive year, with a hat trick and a pair of two-goal outings. Those two-goal matches came in back-to-back wins over Cleveland State and Evansville, and he added an assist in each match. After just two seasons at BGSU, Flynn  has career totals of 23 goals and 54 points. He is only one goal and five points from moving into the top 10 on those respective BGSU career lists.
James, a native of Mississauga, Ontario (Loyola Catholic Secondary), started all 19 matches this season, and played in all 79 of BG's matches in his four-year career, starting 69. He had 13 points on four goals and five assists in 2015. James tied for the team assists lead, and was fourth on the Falcons in both goals and points. He scored BG's first and last goals of the season, with the opening goal in the Falcons' season-opening win over SIUE and the match-winning goal at Appalachian State. James had a four-point match against Evansville, figuring in the scoring of all three BGSU goals, and had two assists vs. Cleveland State. James scored 33 career points on nine goals and 15 assists.
The Falcons finished the season with an overall record of 9-9-1. James was one of just three seniors on the Falcons' 26-man roster in 2015.
