Knoxville, Tenn. – Alicia Arnold earned Mid-American Conference automatic qualifying marks in both the 100 and 200 and Brittany Sinclair just missed a school record in the 400 hurdles as the Bowling Green State University track and field team finished day two of the Tennessee Relays Powered By Sea Ray.
Arnold ran the second-fastest time in the MAC this year in the 100 and placed sixth overall among a strong field with a time of 11.79 seconds. She also ran 24.28 seconds in the 200 to place third and earn another automatic qualifying mark. Teammate Kera Lamotte also recorded a strong time in the 200, finishing with a personal best time of 24.57 seconds to finish eighth.
Sinclair was already the MAC leader in the 400 hurdles after running the event in 1:01.13 at the Raleigh Relays to open the season. But she annihilated that result, posting a personal best time of 59.77 seconds Friday night. It was more than a full second faster than she has ever run the event before and is just .03 seconds away from a school record that has stood since 1992 when Tara Allen ran 59.74 seconds.
Maria Meredith continued her improved performances in the 1500, running a personal best time of 4:40.06 to finish 24th overall. Amanda Garlak also placed 24th in the 5000 with a personal best time of 18:37.30. Raven Porter ended ninth in the long jump at 17-8.25 and Kori Reiser was 12th in the discus with a throw of 141-10. Kayla Velasquez set a season-best mark in the discus of 136-9 to finish 17th.
Bowling Green will complete the weekend at the Tennessee Relays Saturday beginning at 10 am.
