Bowling Green, Ohio – The Bowling Green State University women's golf team had a team take fourth-place overall and another team finish in ninth-place at the fifth annual Dolores Black Falcon Invitational this weekend at the Stone Ridge Golf Club in Bowling Green, Ohio.
"Overall we had a great event. We had great weather and competition. Alums, fans and parents travelled and or came out to watch us play and we honored Dolores while celebrating past, present and future for BGSU Women's Golf!" commented head coach Stephanie Young.
The Falcons' unit of Mikayla Baer, Shelby Wilson, Lily Bartell, Patricia Holt and Hannah Lewis carded rounds of 308 and 309 to finish in fourth-place overall with a 36-hole team score of 617, +41, on the weekend.
The BGSU team of Fran Rodriguez, Miranda Dubler, Lauren Diehl, Madeynn Swank and Julia Hoffman turned in scores of 321 and 324 to finish in ninth-place overall out of the 11-team field with a team score of 645, +69.
"Competitively we had wanted to finish higher. However, we saw a lot of great golf and some career lows," continued Coach Young. "Mikayla (Baer) had a top-five finish and led the way for us again this weekend and Shelby (Wilson) had the low round of the day for us today with some incredible birdies and par saves. I'm really proud of all our young women for their effort, hard work and representation of BGSU over the course of one of the biggest events of the year for us."
Bowling Green's Baer carded a second round 76, +4, to go along with her first round 75, +3, to finish in a tie for fifth-place overall with a two-round combined score of 150, +6. The sophomore, who posted her second straight top-five finish, totaled a team-high four birdies and 23 pars over her two days of play.

Behind Wilson was Bartell, as the 2014 Dolores Black Falcon Invitational Champion, turned in rounds of 80, +8, and 77, +5, to finish with a combined two-round score of 157, +13, and in a tie for 18th-place overall. The junior finished the two rounds of play with a par 5 scoring average of even par at 5.00 and a total of 22 pars.
Finishing in a tie for 27th-place overall were both Holt and Lewis with matching scores of 159, +15. Holt shot rounds of 77, +5, and 82, +10, for her score of 159, +15, while Lewis posted rounds of 78, +6, and 81, +9. Lewis was second on the team with three total birdies on the weekend.
