Bowling Green, Ohio – The Bowling Green State University softball team (16-23, 5-9 MAC) continues its stretch of home games with four Mid-American Conference games this weekend, beginning with a Friday (April 24) doubleheader vs. Kent State University. First pitch of the first game is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. BGSU then will play single games vs. Buffalo on Saturday and Sunday (April 25-26).

"This is a huge weekend for us. Coming off of our sweep of IPFW, I believe we are heading into the weekend in a good state of mind. The key to both series will be to find a way to win the 'tougher innings'. If we can do that, we will give ourselves an opportunity to win each pitch, inning and game."
FALCON NOTABLES
*BG recorded 12 and 10 hits in the doubleheader games against IPFW yesterday. This was the first time since April 3 that the Falcons had hit totals in the double digits (nine games total this season).
*All four BGSU seniors were in the lineup together for the first time this season in game one against the Mastodons Tuesday afternoon.
* Combs pitched a complete-game one-hitter in game two versus IPFW. Her complete game was her third of the season, and the shutout was her second of the spring.
*Emily McClelland started both games on Tuesday, her first appearances in the starting lineup in over a month. Tuesday's second game marked her first two-hit game of the season. In the victory, she went 2-for-3 and drove in what proved to be the winning run.
*Aspen Searle leads the team in a number of categories, including batting avg., slugging pct., on base pct., runs scored, hits, RBIs, homeruns and total bases.

LEAGUE RECORD HOLDER
On April 10 against Miami (OH), senior Jamie Kertes earned a new Mid-American Conference record for career saves. For Kertes, the save was her first of the season and the 16th of her career. Kertes entered the 2015 campaign sharing the MAC career saves record with former Kent State hurler Kate Leary (15 saves from 2001-04).

BGSU was chosen to finish sixth in the Mid-American Conference East Division in the Softball preseason coaches poll, as announced Tuesday afternoon by the league offices. Defending MAC Champions Ohio University was tabbed to be the favorite in the East Division in 2015, receiving eight out of a possible 12 first place votes. Kent State was picked to finish second with two votes, and Akron and Buffalo each received one first place vote. The Zips and Bulls were chosen to finish third and fourth, respectively. Miami was picked to finish fifth in the East, followed by BGSU in sixth to round out the East.
