Link, Pleger Named Pizza Hut Athletes Of The Week
April 27, 2015 | Baseball, General, Women's Track and Field
Each week, the Bowling Green State University Athletic Department names the Pizza Hut Athletes of the Week, as selected by the athletic communications department based on their athletic performances from the previous week. This week's winners are baseball pitcher Jason Link and track and field athlete Brooke Pleger.

Male Athlete of the Week
Jason Link, a senior from Hamilton, Ohio, set the tone for Bowling Green baseball's series win over first-place Central Michigan, tossing a career-high 7.0 innings in a 7-2 win Friday. Link struck out a career-high nine batters, shattering his previous best of five through just two innings. He carried a no-hitter into the sixth before allowing a hit after 5.1 innings and 17 batters. The senior struck out multiple batters in three different innings, including striking out the side in the second inning.
Female Athlete of the Week
Brooke Pleger, a redshirt senior from Saline, Mich., broke the Mid-American Conference record in the hammer throw, retaining her spot at the top of the national leaderboard with a school-record throw of 225-feet-11 to win the Ashland Alumni Open Friday. Pleger broke both Stevi Large's conference record of 223-4, set in 2009, and her own school record of 223-0, set a year ago. The toss makes her the seventh-best American collegian in history.
