Off The Court: Isabel Kovacic
May 01, 2015 | Volleyball
Throughout the spring, BGSUFalcons.com will help you to get to know the student-athletes on the BGSU Volleyball team better. After graduating just two seniors from the 2014 Falcons and having none in 2015, the team has a strong foundation for success in the near future. Our final Off The Court feature highlights true freshman Isabel Kovacic, who joined the Falcons in the spring. She played at Araphoe High School in Littleton, Colo., guiding her squad to a 25-3 record as a senior.

Besides volleyball and school, most of my time is spent …
hanging out with my teammates and friends, watching movies with them, or just relaxing my mind. Sometimes I also enjoy drawing if I have enough free time.
Â
One hidden talent that I have is …
pottery and jewelry making; I took two classes in high school and discovered the artistic side of myself with ceramics.
Â
Three things I would take with me to a deserted island …
a knife, blanket, and a pot.
Â
One destination in the world for a vacation that I have never visited before but would like to is …
India because of the amount of diversity and culture mixes in the area.
Â
Something everyone likes that I just don't understand …
rice crispy treats, fruit snacks, pizza rolls.
Â
One random fact about me is …
I speak three languages fluently; English, Croatian, Italian.
Â
What skill I want to get better at (non-volleyball) …
singing or dancing.
Â
The best feeling in volleyball is …
when you block the opposing team's best hitter that has been scoring for them and win the game with it. It fills you with so much power.
Â
I started playing volleyball when I was …
10 because I wanted to switch sports from basketball since I did not enjoy it for the amount of time I spent playing it.
Â
The part of my game I want to improve the most before the fall season is …
serve receive so that I could improve on my six-rotation game. Another big part to improve on would be defense.
Â
My favorite class at BGSU is …
quantitative chemistry because I am a chemistry major.
Â
I chose to come to BGSU because …
I saw the potential in the volleyball program with the current coaching staff and the great chemistry program. I also knew that the coaches would help me get to where I want to be in four years, which is playing overseas.
Â
The best advice about being a BGSU volleyball player that I received from a teammate and/or coach thus far is….
with the right mindset, you can get anywhere.
Â
An essential part of my pregame routine is …
watching high level volleyball clips and visualizing myself as those players.
Â
My pre-game "must listen to" musical artist is…
Justin Timberlake.
Â
My dream job is …
to play volleyball overseas.
Â
If I could have any superpower, I would choose …
to fly.
Â
If I could have dinner with any famous person dead or alive, it would be….
Destinee Hooker or Kerri Walsh.
Â
My favorite volleyball player is …
Francesca Piccinini.
Â
The person I look up to the most is….
both my mom and dad.
Â
My favorite quote is…
Carpe Diem.
