HEAD COACH'S THOUGHTS
Kerrie Turner: "This week has been incredibly efficient for our team. We are still dealing with some injuries and we are working hard to fill some of those areas, particularly on vault and floor. I am pleased with how the team has responded from our first competition. The togetherness of the team is excellent and we are working hard to have the depth on all four events. I feel they have learned from the first competition and they are hungry to get started with the MAC season. Certainly, every competition is an excellent opportunity for our program to build scores. MAC meets feel a bit special because we are trying to make a mark within the conference prior to the conference championship in March. Western Michigan had an excellent start and we will be working hard to bring our best to this competition. I know we are capable of hitting all four events and that will truly be our focus. I am confident we will improve upon last week's season opener."

ABOUT WESTERN MICHIGAN
The Broncos began their third season under head coach Penny Jernigan with a victory over Illinois-Chicago on Jan. 9 by a score of 194.025-190.700, which is their best opener in program history. WMU returns 2015 MAC All-Around Champion, Anna Corbett, as well as three other athletes who all earned spots in the NCAA Regional meet – Kelsey Hood, Jessi Buis and Jessie Peszek. The Broncos recorded their highest ever team total at MACs in 2015 with a 195.525 placing third. That score ranks fourth best in WMU school history. The Falcons last defeated the Broncos in 2014, 192.825-191.450 and hold a 28-12-1 overall record against WMU.
ABOUT EASTERN MICHIGAN
The Eagles, competing under 2015 MAC Coach of the Year Jay Santos, were selected third in the MAC Preseason Coaches Poll and opened their season on the road against Pittsburgh, Maryland and Towson. EMU won the quad-meet with a score of 194.875 and swept this week's MAC weekly honors of Gymnast of the Week and Specialist of the Week. Eastern Michigan, now ranked No. 20 nationally, returns Kendall Valentin who was a Second Team All-MAC selection following her freshman campaign. The Falcons hold a 26-20 overall advantage in the series with BGSU's last win over the Eagles came in 2015 by a close score of 195.250-195.225.

LAST TIME OUT
The Falcons opened their 2016 season against Arizona State and No. 11 Nebraska on Jan. 8, scoring a 191.900 at the tri-meet. The Huskers earned the win with a 194.050 and the Sun Devils finished with 192.700. Individually, three-time regional qualifier Alyssa Nocella and last year's co-vault Mid-American Conference champion Lauren Feely competed in the all-around for BGSU, placing third and fourth respectively. BGSU's highest score on an apparatus came on vault with a 48.375. Freshman Rachel Creagh began the rotation with a 9.500 and other scorers on the event included Leslie Delgado (9.650), Nocella (9.675), Victoria Heath (9.775) and Feely (9.775).
THE CHAMP IS BACK
Returner Lauren Feely became the third Falcon in as many years to win at least a share of the MAC Vault Championship, as she scored a career-best 9.900 on the event in 2015. Feely was also named to the All-Tournament Team. In BGSU's first meet of 2016, she placed fourth in all-around competition, with her highest score coming on vault (9.775).

NOCELLA BEGINS SENIOR SEASON STRONG
Last season, Alyssa Nocella became just the third BGSU gymnast across the last 15 years to qualify for three straight regionals. To open up 2016, the senior earned a third-place finish in all-around competition with a 38.925. Her score of 9.850 tied her for first place overall and was a team-high for the meet on any event.
Â
NEWCOMERS TAKE OVER
The 2016 BGSU roster features eight freshmen and one redshirt-freshman who will all look to compete for the first time as collegiate gymnasts in 2016. The newcomers include Julia Beyer, Rachel Creagh, Lauren De Meno, Leslie Delgado, Chelsea Eley, Erika Houser, Taylor Livingston, Katie Morsefield and Kayla Rose. Delgado's results on vault (9.650) and uneven bars (9.675) proved to be the best freshman performance of the meet for the Falcons and earned her a MAC Specialist of the Week nomination.
