Falcons Close Weekend With Personal Bests

Bowling Green, Ohio – The Bowling Green track and field team posted a veritable plethora of personal bests Saturday as the Falcons competed in meets hosted by both the University of Findlay and the SPIRE Institute.
Although Makenzie Wheat did not set a career-best in the shot put, she did post her best mark of the season, to lead the Falcons at the Findlay Classic. Wheat finished second in the event with a distance of 51-feet-1.75, the third-best toss in the Mid-American Conference this year. Teammate Aliyah Gustafson, who has the second-best throw in the MAC at 51-5, posted a distance of 49-3.5 to finish third.
Freshman Jade Nolan competed three times in the 60, opening with a personal best time of 8.02 seconds in the preliminary round. She ran 8.10 in the semifinals to sneak into the finals and posted an 8.15 to finish eighth.
In the 400, freshman Cheyenne Oswald placed third overall with a personal best time of 59.28 seconds. Junior Gabrielle Edwards was right behind in fourth at 59.82. Freshman Natalee Cole also recorded a personal best time in the event at 60.35 seconds to finish sixth.
Nolan won the long jump at 18-8.5, while senior teammate Alicia Arnold was third at 17-9.75. Redshirt freshman Africa Strodes finished fifth with a personal best distance of 17-3.25.
At The SPIRE Midwest Open, the Falcons entered three runners in the 3,000 – the only event the team would compete in. Redshirt sophomore Rebecca Schott trimmed 19 seconds off of her collegiate best with a time of 10:19.27 to place 11th. Elena Lancioni was 14th in 10:27.89 and Allison Francis was 22nd with a time of 10:42.49.
Bowling Green will return to action at the Akron Invitational Friday and Saturday.
