Women's Golf to Compete All Nine Athletes at the Dayton Fall Invitational

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – After a two week break, the Bowling Green women's golf team will pick back up with fall season action at the Dayton Fall Invitational on Monday, Oct. 17 through Tuesday, Oct. 18.
The 36-hole tournament will be held at the NRC Country Club in Kettering, Ohio, and will feature a 15-team field. In addition to Bowling Green and host-school Dayton, there will be Central Michigan, Chicago State, Detroit, Eastern Illinois, Evansville, Findlay, Fort Wayne, IUPUI, Loyola, Northern Kentucky, Oakland, Ohio and Youngstown in attendance.

The Falcons will send out a team lineup consisting of Brooke Nolte, Fran Rodriguez, Erin Fahey, Julia Durkin and Sarah Kern. Bowling Green will also add to its lineup with Jessica Madry, Madelynn Swank, Mikayla Baer and Miranda Dubler, who will compete individually at the Dayton Fall Invitational.
Freshman Nolte will start at the top of the lineup after finishing in the top-2 on the Falcons leaderboard at the last three events this fall. The Melissa, Texas native led the Bowling Green squad and had her highest finish of her career thus far at the KZoo Classic two weeks back, in which she shot rounds of 77, 74, and 76 for a two-day total of 227, +11. The score earned Nolte an eighth place overall individual finish, which is the highest for the Falcons this season and she shaved five strokes off of her career-best 54-hole score. Earlier this fall, Nolte finished in a tie for 31st overall at the Redbird Invitational with a score of 232, +16, as well as tied for 43rd overall at the Cardinal Classic with another mark of 232, +16.
Senior Rodriguez will also be competing in her fourth consecutive event this season at the Dayton Fall Invitational. Rodriguez most recently shot rounds of 79, 75, and 79 for a total of 233, +17 which placed her in a tie for 15th overall. The finish was her highest of the fall season, although she also marked the same score of 233, +17 at the Cardinal Classic, with which she placed in a tie for 46th. In the first event of the season, the Flower Mound, Texas native hit a total score of 235, +19 at the Redbird Invitational, where she placed 43rd overall.
In the third spot on the lineup will be sophomore Fahey. With scores of 223, +7 and 226, +10, the Austin, Texas native finished on top of the Falcons leaderboard in two consecutive events, which included a ninth place tie individually at the Redbird Invitational, as well as a tie for 19th overall at the Cardinal Classic. Most recently, Fahey shot rounds of 73, 85, and 81 at the KZoo Classic, where she carded a total 54-hole score of 239, +23 for a 22nd place tie overall. Fahey also marked the lowest single round score for the Falcons this season, when she scored a 72 in the second round of the Redbird Invitational, which ultimately led to the best three-round score of the Bowling Green squad in a 223, +7 final.
Making her first appearance of the season and first collegiate spot on the team lineup will be sophomore Durkin. A Miramar, Fla. native, Durkin posted a stroke average of 82,33 over three rounds of play in her freshman campaign, where she competed as an individual at the 2015 Rocket Classic. In the process of earning a 43rd-place finish at the Rocket Classic, Durkin carded a low round of 79 on the final 18-holes of competition, leading to a total score of 247, +32.
Earlier this season, sophomore Kern had made her collegiate debut at the Cardinal Classic, in which she finished in a tie for 65th overall. A native of Springboro, Ohio, Kern had tallied rounds of 84, 81, and 74 for a two-day total of 239, +23. Then at the KZoo Classic, Kern competed individually, where she finished in tied for 38th by rounds of 83, 85, and 80, and a total score of 248, +32.
The Falcons will also send out four individual participants, the most of the season, which means that every one of the Bowling Green women's golf squad will be competing at the Dayton Fall Invitational.
Freshman Madry had made her collegiate debut in the Falcons first event of the season, where she scored a total of 250, +34 with rounds of 82, 85, and 83 at the Redbird Invitational. Madry had played as an individual at the Northern Illinois-hosted event, and finished in a tie for 82nd place overall. The Houston, Texas native then competed in the team lineup for the first time in her collegiate career at the KZoo Classic, where she improved to a total score of 247, +31 by rounds of 79, 85, and 83. The first round score of 79 at the KZoo Classic marks a career best single round score for Madry.
Although junior Swank has competed in all three events of the fall season for the Falcons, she has yet to play as an individual. Swank most recently earned her highest finish of the season at the KZoo Classic, where she finished in a tie for 33rd overall with a total score of 245, +29 by rounds of 84, 80, and 81. At the event prior, Swank marked a season-best single round score of 76, earning her a final score of 241, +25 at the Cardinal Classic. In the first event of the season, the Clarendon Hill, Ill. native marked her best 54-hole score with rounds of 80, 79, and 77 for a two-day total of 242, +26 at the Redbird Invitational. The three-round score placed Swank in a tie for 44th overall at the Northern Illinois event.
Senior Baer has only made an appearance at one event in the fall season, in which she earned a total score of 242, +26. The native of Elmore, Ohio hit rounds of 80, 86, and 76 at the Redbird Invitational, earning her a 62nd-place tie overall. At the tournament, Baer hit a team-leading 14 pars, and went even in par three scoring.
A second Falcon making her season debut at the Dayton Fall Invitational will be junior Miranda Dubler. A native of Mason, Ohio, Dubler turned in a stroke average of 83.56 over nine rounds of play in her sophomore campaign. In three events competing as an individual, Dubler carded a low round of 77 at the 2015 Rocket Classic, where she also ultimately recorded a career-best 54-hole score of 241, +25. Dubler also finished with a 54-hole score of 259, +43 at the 2015 MAC Fall Preview event, in addition to a total three-round score of 252, +36 at the EKU Colonel Classic.
