Women's Golf to Round Out Fall Season Action at Silver Lake Shootout

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – The Bowling Green women's golf program will round out the fall season by competing in the Silver Lake Shootout on Monday, Oct. 24 at the Silver Lake Country Club. The four-team tournament will include 36-holes of play on the par-72, 6,177 yard course.
In addition to Bowling Green, there will be Ohio, Western Michigan and Central Michigan participating as teams in the event, while Kent State will be competing individuals in the single-day tournament.
The Falcons will send out a lineup consisting of Erin Fahey, Brooke Nolte, Mikayla Baer, Fran Rodriguez and Jessica Madry. Julia Durkin will also compete for the Falcons individually, beginning in the 9 a.m. shotgun start in Silver Lake.
Leading the Falcons at the top of the lineup will be sophomore Fahey. With scores of 223, +7 and 226, +10, the Austin, Texas native finished on top of the Falcons leaderboard in two consecutive events, which included a ninth place tie individually at the Redbird Invitational, as well as a tie for 19th overall at the Cardinal Classic. Most recently, Fahey shot rounds of 79 and 74 at the 36-hole Dayton Fall Invitational for a 14th place finish individually and first of the Falcons for the third time this fall. Fahey also marked the lowest single round score for the Falcons this season, when she scored a 72 in the second round of the Redbird Invitational, which ultimately led to the best three-round score of the Bowling Green squad in a 223, +7 final.
After finishing in the top-two on the Falcons leaderboard in each of the last four events this fall, freshman Nolte will play at the number two spot at the Silver Lake Shootout. The Melissa, Texas native led the Bowling Green squad and had her highest finish of her career thus far at the KZoo Classic three weeks back, in which she shot rounds of 77, 74, and 76 for a two-day total of 227, +11. The score earned Nolte an eighth place overall individual finish, which is the highest for the Falcons this season. Last week at the Dayton Fall Invitational, Nolte carded a 36-hole score of 154, +14 with rounds of 76 and 78, with which she placed in a tie for 16th place.
Senior Baer has made two appearances thus far in the season, including the Redbird Invitational and the Dayton Fall Invitational. Last week as an individual, the native of Elmore, Ohio scored rounds of 80 and 78 for a two-round total of 158, +18 and a tie for 28th place overall. When competing in the team lineup at the Redbird Invitational, Baer earned a total score of 242, +26 by marking a team-leading 14 pars, and went even in par three scoring.
Senior Rodriguez will be competing in her fifth consecutive event this season at the Silver Lake Shootout. Rodriguez most recently shot rounds of 82 and 84 at the Dayton Fall Invitational to finish in a tie for 58th place individually. Earlier this season, Rodriguez carded rounds of 79, 75, and 79 for a total of 233, +17 which placed her in a tie for 15th overall, which was her highest finish of the fall season, marked at the KZoo Classic three weeks back. Leading up to the Silver Lake Shootout, the Flower Mound, Texas native has earned scores 233, +17 at the Cardinal Classic, as well as 235, +19 at the Redbird Invitational.
After making her collegiate debut at the Redbird Invitational with a total individual score of 250, +34, freshman Madry followed up the performance by marking a career-best single round score of 79 at the KZoo Classic in the team lineup. Madry repeated the score at the Dayton Fall Invitational last week, where she carded rounds of 80 and 79 to finish in a tie for 32nd overall as an individual.
Last week, sophomore Durkin made her first appearance of the season with a score of 163, +23 at the Dayton Fall Invitational. Durkin carded rounds of 83 and 80 at the two-day event and placed in a tie for 51st and third on the Bowling Green lineup. Durkin will be playing as an individual at the Silver Lake Shootout this week.
The Silver Lake Shootout will be the final event of the fall season for the Bowling Green women's golf program, until the team picks back up with spring season action Feb. 13 and Feb. 14 at the Women's Mid-American Match Play Challenge in Lakewood Ranch, Fla.
