Training Trip Day Two
December 19, 2016 | Women's Swimming & Diving
Naples, FL – The Bowling Green State University swimmers and divers are currently enjoying the sun at Naples, Florida, as they focus on their training trip for the 2016-17 season.
The Falcons are only two months away from finishing the 2016-17 season. Quoting second year head coach, Matt Ense, "Training trip is not only a time for the swimmers and divers to work hard, but also to do some quality team bonding. Also with school being done, they can put all of their focus on their practices and recovery time, which is crucial at this point of the season".
Junior Falcon, Natalie Criswell will be blogging daily to keep fans updated. You can find her blog for the second day of training trip below:
Day two is officially over, and what a long day it was. For the swimmers, the day started at 4:45am departing for a 5:15-7:15 practice at YMCA Norris pool. This was the teams first long course meters practice, focusing on legs by starting with some long swimming and ending with some short fast kicking. Coach Matt was super happy with how fast the team was kicking and challenging themselves. After the first practice was over, the swimmers had a break from 7:15am-1:00pm spent on the beach, watching dolphins, strengthening tan lines, napping, and playing in the ocean. It was a beautiful morning and much needed break. While the swimmers were relaxing, the divers were at practice. After the first day of practice they are starting to get the hang of diving outdoors. At 1:00pm the swimmers headed back to the pool for their second swim workout of the day. This was the last workout as a group, and boy was it a good one. Everyone got up on the blocks and raced; sprinters and mid distance swimmers raced for 100, 75, 50, and another 75yd, while the distance swimmers raced 300, 150, 100, and 200yd. Everyone was posting really great times and loving the time in the sun. Directly following afternoon swim everyone loaded up the vans and headed to cross fit where we met the divers. Today cross fit was crazy; we were split into two teams and had to flip a tire for about 75 yards while sprinting in between. Although it was hard, competing in teams was super fun. After cross fit everyone went back to their condo, where we got dressed up and headed out for a nice team dinner at Buca di Beppo. This has historically been one of our favorite nights filled with lots of laughs and delicious food. Its been a long, beautiful, fun day! We are so lucky to be in Naples!
Keep up with your Falcons at training trip daily, as they get ready for the final part of the 2016-17 season.
