Farmer’s Hammer Throw Highlights Day One At Ball State Challenge

Muncie, Ind. – The Bowling Green State University track and field team had just two student-athletes compete on day one of the Ball State Challenge Friday. Freshman Allie Farmer set a new personal best in the hammer throw to highlight a day in which just two events were contested.

Farmer placed seventh in the hammer throw as she powered past her previous collegiate best toss of 154-feet-4. Two of her three throws in the prelims exceeded the best toss she had at the Gibson Invite a week ago and provided her an opportunity for three more throws in the finals. Her second throw of finals was her best of the year, flying 162-11.

The only other Falcon to compete Friday was freshman Andrea Weirauch in the javelin. She threw 99-6 and placed eighth.

Bowling Green will be back in action Saturday at the Ball State Challenge. The Falcons are tentatively scheduled to compete 33 times over 11 events on an action-packed day of competition.
