Fahey Paces Falcons on Day Two of the MAC Championships

Noblesville, Indiana – On the second round of play at the 2016 MAC Women's Golf Championships on Saturday, the Bowling Green State University women's golf team couldn't repeat its record setting performance from the first round of play and finished the day with a team score of 313, +25, at the Purgatory Golf Club in Noblesville, Indiana.
The Falcons, who entered play on Saturday in fourth place overall on the team leaderboard, dropped three places and into a tie for seventh-place overall with a two-round combined team score of 608, +32. BGSU is tied with Northern Illinois.
"Today was not what we had expected, but we are looking forward to finishing strong tomorrow," stated head coach Stephanie Young. "Erin had another solid round for us with her 74."
BGSU's Erin Fahey dropped two strokes off her first round score of 76, +4, to shoot a BGSU low second round 74, +2, on Saturday. The freshman recorded four birdies, including three straight over holes No. 4, No. 5 and No. 6, and nine pars over her second round of play. With her 36-hole score of 150, +6, Fahey is in a tie for 16th-place overall heading into the final round of play on Sunday.
After shooting a BGSU career low round 72, even par, over the first round on Friday, junior Fran Rodriguez concluded day two of the MAC Championships with a round of 80, +8. Rodriguez tallied nine pars and recorded a birdie on the par 5 hole No. 18 to end her round of 18 holes of play. With her 36-hole score of 152, +8, Rodriguez finds herself in a tie for 24th-place overall.
Ending day two in a tie for 28th-place is Hannah Lewis, as the senior posted a second round 78, +6, on Saturday, which included two birdies and nine pars on the day. Combined with her first round of 75, +3, Lewis enters the final day of play with a 36-hole score of 153, +9.
Junior Mikayla Baer and senior Lily Bartell rounded out the BGSU lineup with rounds of 82, +10, and 81, +9, respectively, on Saturday.
Baer finished her second round of play with 10 pars and one birdie en route to her score of 82, +10. Along with her first round score of 73, +1, Baer sits in a tie for 34th-place overall with her 36-hole score of 155, +11.
Bartell carded one birdie and nine pars over her 18-holes of play on Saturday to finish with a round of 81, +9. The senior is in a tie for 36th overall with her two-round combined score of 156, +12.
No. 13 Kent State shot a round of 285, -3 under par, as a team on Saturday to take the lead at 597, +3.
The first round team leader in Toledo carded a second round of 293, +5, and sits in second-place at 582, +6, after 36-holes of play. Ohio, who shot a 292, +4, on Saturday, leapt four places and into third overall with a two-round combined score of 593, +17.
Bowling Green will tee-off the final round of the MAC Championships tomorrow morning beginning at 8:50 a.m. The Falcons will be playing with the Huskies of NIU.
