Volleyball: Five Things About Isabel Kovacic

Bowling Green, Ohio – Bowling Green State University volleyball outside hitter Isabel Kovacic had a strong freshman campaign in 2015 and will look to use the year of experience to take her play to the next level during her sophomore season in 2016.
Last year as a true freshman, Kovacic played in all 29 matches for the Falcons, starting 28 of those 29 contests. She recorded 121 kills and 34 blocks in 107 sets played on the year. She also posted 86 digs, 19 service and 158.0 points overall for the season.
Kovacic turned in a season-high nine kills in the opener versus Indiana and also registered eight kills in the home match versus Buffalo. She picked up seven kills in the win versus Notre Dame, at home against Wright State and in the road win at Akron. On the year, she recorded a season-high attack percentage of .400 in the home match versus Buffalo.
She also tallied a season-best 6.0 blocks in the win over Cleveland State at the Blue Raider Bash and picked up double digit digs twice on the season with 11 digs in the contest at Pittsburgh and 10 digs in the home win over IPFW.

The Falcons will have a total of 15 home matches in 2016, the most that BGSU has had in a single season since 2005. BGSU will open up the year with back-to-back weekend home tournaments in the Hampton Inn Invitational on Aug. 26-27 and the BGSU Invitational on Sept. 2-3.

- Throughout my life I've lived in Italy, Slovenia, the United States and Croatia, where I have lived the most.
- Though I was born in Colorado, I moved away after two weeks of living there and didn't come back until I was 14.
- If I didn't play volleyball I would have been a high jumper or a swimmer.
- I've had an interest in chemistry since I was in fifth grade.
- I speak English and Croatian fluently, and can understand Italian to a large extent.
