Men's Golf Square Up For Inverness Intercollegiate Starting Monday

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – The Bowling Green men's golf team will take on the Inverness Intercollegiate, hosted by the University of Toledo, on Monday, Sept. 19 through Tuesday, Sept. 20. The 54-hole event will take place at the par 71, 7,323-yard Inverness Club in Toledo, Ohio.
The 13 team field at the Intercollegiate will include Bowling Green, Auburn, Austin Peay, Ball State, Duke, Miami, Michigan, Michigan State, Minnesota, Penn State, Saint Mary's (CA), Virginia and host school Toledo.
The event will begin with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start on Monday, in which the teams will play through 36 holes. Tuesday's action will begin with 8 a.m. tee times for the final round of 18 holes.
The Falcons are coming off of a fifth place finish at the Joe Feaganes Marshall Invitational, in which the team shot a total score of 856, +16 last week.
The Falcons will send out the same lineup as the Marshall Invitational, with Jose Narro, Brett Rinker, Pablo Heredia Iglesias, Max Rispler, and Nick Hofland. Competing individually for the Falcons will be junior Cameron Michalak.
At the Marshall Invitational, senior Narro finished tied for 23rd overall by shooting rounds of 71, 74, and a low round of 69 on the final day of competition. The Tampico, Mexico native came in with a total score of 214, +4 in the Falcons first competition of the fall season.
Senior Rinker will remain at the number two spot, after carding a total score of 232, +22 at the Marshall Invitational. The native of Slippery Rock, Pa. earned scores of 82, 72, and 78 in the fall season's first event.
In the third spot is sophomore Iglesias, who turned in rounds of 72, 77, and 69 at the first event of the fall season in the Marshall Invitational last week. The Sevilla, Spain native totaled a score of 218, +8, leading to a tie for 36th place overall in Huntington, W. Va.
Finishing on top for the Bowling Green squad at the Marshall Invitational was redshirt sophomore Rispler, who tied for 15th place overall. The native of Grand Rapids, Mich. tallied two eagles on the first day of competition, which led to him carding rounds of 70,69, and 73 for a total score of 212, +2.
In his collegiate debut at the Marshall Invitational, freshman Hofland finished third on the Falcons squad through consistent play in the 54-hole event. In the first day of competition, Hofland marked a 74, followed by a score of 72 in the second round. The Ancaster, Ontario native then carded a low round of 71 on the second day for a total of 217, +7 and a tie of 31st place overall.
Competing individually for the Falcons will be junior Michalak, who finished tied for 48th place at the Marshall Invitational. The native of Grove City, Ohio marked scores of 75, 76, and 71 over the two days of competition, for a total score of 222, +12.
At last year's Inverness Intercollegiate, California came out on top of a 15-team field at 877, +25 and held a three-stroke advantage over 2014 champion East Tennessee State. Individually, Michigan State's Mitch Rutledge captured medalist honors at 211, -2, and just missed the lowest single round score in tournament history by just one shot during the final round. Florida is the only team to have won titles at the Inverness Intercollegiate on two occasions, coming in 2002 and 2005.
