SETTING THE SCENE
• Bowling Green hosts Northern Illinois Saturday at 2:00 pm in Doyt L. Perry Stadium. The contest will be broadcast on ESPN3 and is the program's annual Pink Game for breast cancer awareness.
• BGSU and Northern Illinois last played in Bowling Green in 2011, a 45-14 Huskies victory. Prior to that, the two teams had not played in The Doyt since BGSU beat NIU 34-18 in 2003 in the first ever MAC game to host ESPN College Gameday.
• A year ago, Northern Illinois won 45-20 and that came on the heels of the two programs meeting three consecutive times in the MAC Championship game in Detroit. BGSU won MAC titles in 2013 and 2015, while NIU won the 2014 contest.
• Interestingly, these two teams have played seven times since 2003, but just once in Doyt L. Perry Stadium. Three of the contests were played in Ford Field and three others were played at NIU.
