Kidwell Earns First Career MAC Player of the Week Honor

CLEVELAND, Ohio – After totaling 15 blocks through the weekend's two matches, freshman Katie Kidwell was named Mid-American Conference Defensive Player of the Week for the East Division, announced Monday.
A native of Watseka, Ill., Kidwell set both a career-high and a season-best for the Bowling Green squad when she registered 11 total blocks in the 3-1 win at Kent State (Sept. 29). The middle blocker followed the performance up with four total blocks in the 3-1 comeback victory at Ohio, helping the Falcons earn its first win at Ohio since Nov. 10, 2001. On the weekend, Kidwell also tallied 14 kills and hit .231, in addition to having an error-free weekend on the serve receive. With her 15 total blocks, Kidwell averaged a MAC-best 1.88 blocks per set to help lift the Falcons to a 2-0 weekend.
On the season, Kidwell now averages 1.12 blocks per set, and posts an error-free serve receive. A two-way player, Kidwell also marks 104 kills for a 1.76 kills per set average. It is Kidwell's first MAC Player of the Week honor of her collegiate career.
The Bowling Green volleyball program is currently on a three-match win streak and will return to the Stroh Center for a four-match home stand beginning this Friday, Oct. 6 as they welcome Buffalo for MAC play at 5 p.m.
