Eight Volleyball Student-Athletes Earn Academic All-MAC Honors

CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Bowling Green volleyball program had eight student-athletes recognized with 2017 Academic All-MAC honors, including Madeline Brandewie, Jessi Holly, Paulina Iacobelli, Victoria Iacobelli, Celena Kanagin, Isabelle Marciniak, Kallie Seimet and Nicole Slimko, as announced by the Mid-American Conference on Friday.
Bowling Green's eight student-athletes tied for the most of a MAC volleyball program on the 2017 team, while Victoria Iacobelli was one of just five players in the league who finished the season with a perfect 4.0 cumulative grade point average.
All sophomores, Holly, Paulina and Victoria Iacobelli, Kanagin, and Marciniak were each awarded the honor in their first years of eligibility. It is Brandewie and Seimet's second Academic All-MAC recognition as juniors, while senior Nicole Slimko earned the maximum of three awards over the course of her career at Bowling Green.
The Academic All-MAC honor is for a student-athlete who has excelled in athletics and academics. To qualify, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative GPA and have participated in at least 50 percent of the contests for that particular sport, while first-year and transfer players are not eligible.
