Falcons Jump Ahead On Day One Of Akron Invitational
February 03, 2017 | Women's Track and Field
Akron, Ohio – The Bowling Green State University track and field team competed in just two events, and just one traditional indoor event, on day one of the Akron Invitational Friday. The Falcons, though, set a career-best and a season-best in the process.
Bowling Green saw three student-athletes compete in the long jump and junior Kyla Paster placed third overall with a season-best mark of 18-feet-4.25. Freshman Chasatea Brown added a collegiate career-long 18-0.5 to end fifth. Junior BeJai Fray was sixth at 17-11.75. With the jump, Paster moves into the top 10 in the MAC heading into the weekend.
The Falcons also entered three competitors in the gold division (elite) of the discus. Aliyah Gustafson finished fourth with a distance of 149-10. Elizabeth Iversen placed fifth at 140-1 and Kayla Velasquez was sixth at 136-3.
BGSU will have a busy day of competition Saturday at the Akron Invitational, beginning at 10 am. In total, the Falcons have 29 entries across 13 events on the second day of competition.
