Fahey Leads Falcons in First Day of ORU/SFA Spring Break Shootout

DALLAS, Texas – The Bowling Green women's golf program completed the first round of the ORU/SFA Spring Break Shootout with a team score of 309, +21, placing them fourth overall in the 16-team field. The Falcons combined for 47 par scores and earned 10 birdies throughout the first of three rounds of competition.
Finishing on the top of the Bowling Green lineup in Monday's play was sophomore Erin Fahey, who carded a par 72, E with a team-leading four birdies and 10 par scores. Fahey currently sits in third place overall in a field of 87 players, and only trails Eastern Kentucky's Sofie Levin (69, -3) and Alabama State's Chanelle Avaricio (70, -2). Fahey went even on par 3, par 4, and par 5 holes in today's competition.
Making her first appearance of the spring season was sophomore Julia Durkin, who carded a score of 77, +5 to sit in 21st place overall. A native of Miramar, Fla., Durkin marked a pair of birdies and 10 pars for her lowest round of the 2016-17 campaign, shattering her previous low round of 80 on the season.
Each tied for 42nd place is freshman Jessica Madry and junior Madelynn Swank with a score of 80, +8. Madry led the Bowling Green squad with a team-leading 11 par scores, while Swank marked 10 pars paired with two birdies in the first round of play.
Rounding out the Falcons lineup is senior Fran Rodriguez, who carded a round of 83, +11 Monday afternoon. The Flower Mound, Texas native earned two birdies and six par scores.
Leading after the first round is Eastern Kentucky with a team score of 302, +14, while Oral Roberts trails in second at 306, +18. Bowling Green currently follows FDU's third place score of 308, +20 by just one stroke.
