Three Falcons Improve Scores in Second Round of Spring Break Shootout

Day Two Results
DALLAS, Texas – The Bowling Green women's golf program opened the ORU/SFA Spring Break Shootout with a first round score of 309 in yesterday's play, and followed it up with a 310 in today's second day of competition, combining for 93 pars scores and 18 birdies thus far. The Falcons currently sit seventh overall in a 16-team field with a total score of 619, +43 heading into tomorrow's third and final round.
Continuing to lead the Falcons is sophomore Erin Fahey, who currently sits in a tie for fifth place overall in a field of 87 players with a two-day score of 149, +5. Fahey followed up her low round of 72 by carding a 77, +5 in today's competition, and has marked a team-leading six birdies in addition to 19 par scores. Additionally, by averaging 4.75, -2 on par 5 scoring, Fahey is tied for second overall in the tournament on par 5 holes.
Excelling in the second day of competition was freshman Jessica Madry as she marked a low round for the team on the day by a second round score of 75, +3. The mark shaved five strokes off of her opening round of 80, while she has earned a team-leading 22 pars paired with two birdies.
In her first event of the spring season, sophomore Julia Durkin currently sits in a tie for 36th overall with a two-day score of 157, +13. A native of Miramar, Fla., Durkin leads the Falcons on par 3 scoring by averaging 3.25, +2 so far in the tournament over the course of carding scores of 77 and 80 in the first and second rounds, respectively.
By shaving two strokes off of her first round of 80, junior Madelynn Swank rebounded to mark an improved second round of 78 for a two-day total of 158, +14. Swank has earned 20 par scores as well as two birdies, in addition to averaging 5.12, +1 on par 5 holes over the course of the first two days of the competition.
Rounding out the Falcons lineup with another improved score is senior Fran Rodriguez. A native of Flower Mound, Texas, Rodriguez cut two strokes off of her first round of 83 to card an 81 in today's play. With a two-day total of 164, +20, Rodriguez has averaged just 3.38, +3 on par 3 holes and 5.25, +2 on par 5 scoring, in addition to 13 par scores heading into the final day of competition.
Eastern Kentucky currently tops the leaderboard with a score of 599, +23, while Montana and host-school Oral Roberts sit tied for second with scores of 608, +32.
