Fahey Completes Spring Break Shootout with a Top-10 Finish

Final Results
DALLAS, Texas – After three days of competition at the ORU/SFA Spring Break Shootout, the Bowling Green women's golf program finished 11th overall with a 54-hole score of 947, +83. The Falcons opened the tournament with a low round of 309, before carding scores of 310 and 328 in the second and third rounds, respectively. Over the course of the three-day competition, the Falcons combined for 18 birdies and 93 par scores.
"We were not able to execute the way we needed in the closing holes today," Bowling Green women's golf head coach Stephanie Young said. "However overall, the team had two of three rounds below our average and several players saw improvements. We will get back to work and focus on our upcoming Dolores Black Falcon Invitational."
Topping the Bowling Green lineup for the fourth time this season was sophomore Erin Fahey, with a 54-hole score of 228, +12. The mark consisted of rounds of 72, 77 and 79 and ultimately placed her in a tie for 10th overall in a field of 88 players. Fahey also placed second overall in the tournament in par 5 scoring with a 4.75, -2 average, in addition to earning a team-leading eight birdies.
Junior Madelynn Swank and freshman Jessica Madry each tied for 54th overall with total scores of 240, +24 while in Dallas. Swank, a native of Clarendon Hills, Ill., had earned a total of three birdies and 30 pars, while Madry birdied on the final hole of the tournament for a total of three, in addition to going even on par 5 scoring.
In her first event of the spring season, sophomore Julia Durkin rounded out the tournament with a three-day score of 243, +27 by rounds of 77, 80 and 86. In the first day of competition, Durkin marked a new season low round of 77 on her way to accumulating 25 par scores, three birdies and a 5.25, +2 stroke average on par 5 scoring.
After opening the third and final round with five straight par scores, senior Fran Rodriguez went on to tally 11 on the day for a tournament total of 24. The Flower Mound, Texas native completed the tournament with a 54-hole score of 246, +30 and averaged 5.25, +2 on par 5 holes over the course of the Spring Break Shootout.
Eastern Kentucky claimed the title by a team score of 895, +31, while Northern Colorado took second with a three-day total of 906, +42.
Up next, the Bowling Green women's golf program will host the Dolores Black Falcon Invitational at Stone Ridge Golf Club on Sat., April 8 through Sun., April 9.
