Fray Leads Falcons On Day One Of All-Ohio Championships

Cincinnati, Ohio – Junior BeJai Fray finished 4-of-7 events in the heptathlon Friday at the All-Ohio Championships, putting herself in position to challenge the school record in the event Saturday. In total, the Falcons competed in four events on the opening day of the meet, hosted by the University of Cincinnati.
Fray scored 2,958 points and broke personal bests in two of the four events she competed in Friday. She opened the meet with a career-best time of 15.26 seconds in the 100 hurdles and finished the first day with a personal best 26.09 seconds in the 200. She sits in second place after the opening day.
With three events to go Saturday, Fray is less than 2,000 points shy of Bowling Green's school record of 4,859 points, set by Becky Barnett in 1997.
In other events Friday, junior Kyla Paster finished third in the long jump with a leap of 17-feet-10.5. Redshirt freshman Kelsie Mothersead was sixth in her first collegiate 3000 steeplechase at 11:52.40. Freshman Kaila Butler led a trio of Falcons in the hammer throw, ending seventh with a toss of 181-feet-9.75.
Bowling Green will be back in action Saturday, beginning with the javelin at 10 am. The Falcons are scheduled to compete in 13 events on the day.
