Women's Golf Completes Fifth Annual Spring Challenge Cup Against Ohio

Final Results
LANCASTER, Ohio – The Bowling Green women's golf program rounded out the regular season with match play against Mid-American Conference foe Ohio University in the fifth annual Spring Challenge Cup. Ohio clinched the cup with 7.5 points narrowly topping the Falcons 4.5 total points on the day.
Although the Bobcats completed the first round up 2.5 points to Bowling Green's 0.5, the Falcons rebounded to claim the second round in a significant 2.5 to 0.5 victory to enter the third round of individual competition all tied up at three points apiece. Ohio went on to accrue 4.5 points in the afternoon's play to the Falcons 1.5.
Madelynn Swank paired up with fellow junior Miranda Dubler and went all square with the Bobcats Emily Hughes and Hannah Travis to open the day's action. The combo then won the morning back nine by a 2&1 mark to tally a point for Bowling Green heading into the evening's single matches, where Swank narrowly fell to Ohio's Hailey Hrynewich by a score of 3&2, while Dubler's opponent Travis won 1up.
Senior Fran Rodriguez paired up with freshman Jessica Madry for the morning session, in which the pair competed against Ohio's Nicole Smiley and Lily Pendy. The Bobcats took the first round by a 3&1 margin, but the Falcons rebounded to claim the second round 2&1. Individually, Rodriguez closed out the day with a 4&3 victory over Ohio's Marissa Balish for a point, while Smiley won the round 2&1 against Madry.
Competing all the way through the first round were sophomores Erin Fahey and Julia Durkin, who lined up against Hailey Hrynewich and Marissa Balish, but the Bobcats won the round 2up. In the afternoon, Fahey and Durkin were awarded half a point by finishing all square with the Bobcats, prior to the individual competition. Fahey finished all square with Pendy, while Durkin fell to Ohio's Emily Hughes by 2&1.
Rounding out the Falcons lineup was sophomore Sarah Kern, who paired up against Emily Cunningham in the morning. A native of Springboro, Ohio, Kern won by a significant 3&1 final in the first round, and went on to tally another point in the afternoon with a 1up result in the afternoon against Ohio's Katy Ho. In the third and final round, Kern won 4&3 against the Bobcats' Chloe McKinzie and went 4&2 against Jessica McRae on the back nine to post three victories and be undefeated against four opponents on the day.
Up next, the Bowling Green women's golf program will compete in the Mid-American Conference Championship from April 21-23 in Silver Lake, Ohio.
